Marionelle and I @ Green Market Square

Marionelle came through from Paarl (where she lives and teaches), so we could spend the day together catching up (since we last saw each other in London) and wedding dress shopping. She's asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding in June! We walked in Kirstenbosch and then came home and made pizza and had a bottle of red wine for supper (Ernst was at Newlands watching rugby with Martin)

Arno Carsten's concert @Kirstenbosch

We went to the Arno Carsten's sunset/ picnic concert at KB with Deon, Elmy, Amy and Carla.

Pomegranate Restaurant- Vergenoegd

Pa and Ma took us out for lunch- to the Pomegranate restaurant on a wine farm not far from their house. The food was amazing and it was a lovely afternoon. As we left the restaurant, the chef was rounding up a gaggle of geese on the lawns outside- not sure whether these geese are for entertainment or consumption?

Sarah back from France

I fetched Sarah from the airport on Monday- she has been in France for the last 3 weeks, on a trip organised by her school. She stayed with a lovely French family, near the French Alps- had to walk through the snow every morning, to catch the school bus. It's good to have her back. I helped her unpack and we went out for milkshakes.

Butterfly

I like this photo- the kite surfer looks like a gigantic butterfly...

Blue Peter

Pieter, Deon, Amly, Ernst and I had lunch at the Blue Peter restaurant, which is on the beach in Blouberg, on Sunday. Was good to see them all and enjoy seafood and the beautiful outdoors.

Ice cream at Hout Bay

Ernst and I went to Hout Bay for lunch last Saturday. We had fish, calamari, prawns and chips at a restaurant overlooking the sea and then went for a walk along the beach with ice creams...

Seal at Hout Bay harbour

This seal seemed to be enjoying the attention on the docks at Hout Bay, where a local preceded to use him to beg for money... to buy fish for the seal of course...

Hout Bay for lunch

Ma in her garden

My mom has a beautiful vegetable garden- everything is grown organically in huge wooden boxes, which are made by Pa. We picked fresh veg for lunch and supper every day.

Slaughtering the cauliflower!

This is my mother in her vegetable garden, holding up an enormous cauliflower, which took the kitchen bread knife and lots of muscle to cut! We ate it that night with cheese sauce... mmm.

On the dirt road to van Wyksdorp...

I went to visit my mom at Klein Plasie, for a few days last week. It look just over 4 hours to get there... was weird driving so far and so fast for so long by myself- after not driving in the UK for 3 years! Took this photo from behind the wheel- i was on this road for an hour, driving 60km per hour to save my tyres! This area is known as the Klein Karoo (little desert), it's completely different to Cape Town, but really beautiful in its own way.

Liezel and Immeul for supper

Liezel is another very good friend that we met in the UK and who is also back in CT. It was so good to see her and catch up. She and Emmeul got married in Jan- so we enjoyed looking at their wedding photo's and hearing about their honeymoon in India.

Kirstenbosch

Ernst, Amy and I went to Kirstenbosch (botanical gardens) for a picnic lunch last Saturday. We found some shade and spend the afternoon lying on our picnic blanket, under a tree, catching up on life.

My best friend and I

Amy and I have been best friends since the first day of high school, 11 years ago. We didn't realise when we met, that our parents were actually already friends and we have a photo of our mom's sitting next to each other and holding us, when we were 6 months old :o)

The Strand

Ernst and I went to the Strand last week, when he got back from work, for a picnic supper and swim. The water was gorgeous. This is something that we would not have been able to do after work in London :o)

Watching the sunset with pizza and wine

Chrisna, a good friend we met in the UK- who is also back in CT- came to visit. It was great to catch up on the last 12 months and enjoy St Elmo's pizza and red wine while we sat on the stoep overlooking the vineyards at Ernst's parents house. We watched the sun set and then the full moon rise over the mountain.

Back in the Cape!!

Well, Ernst and I are back in the Cape- it's good to be home! I've been rather slack at blogging lately- we've been to Paris between now and my last blog entry; and had the excitement and sadness of saying goodbye to all our friends in the UK, where we've been living for the last 3 years.
Anyway, i'm back in action! This photo was taken at Fairview cheese and wine farm. I went for lunch with my mom in law and some of her friends- it was lovely. The food was delicious and surroundings absolutely spectacular. I still remember coming here as a child with my parents.
