The Peak - the best viewing point (so far) in Hong Kong

The Peak is one of the best viewing points, with 360 degree views of Hong Kong and the surrounding islands. We took a tram ride up the Peak- it's very steep to the top and all the seats face up, even when you are travelling down, otherwise you would fall out! The tram was originally built in 1888. The British Governor of Hong Kong at the time built his summer residence at the top of the Peak- to escape the heat of the city below... good thinking.

Horror of horrors, there was yet ANOTHER mall- this time on the Peak! It's like having a mall at the top of Table Mountain!! Hong Kongers love their malls, and can't seem to go anywhere without shopping! We got out of the mall as fast as we could- but they make you walk through the whole thing before you get outside to the real attraction- the view!
Ernst and I did a 3km circular route around the Peak- it was such a beautiful walk- we kept stopping in awe as the view seemed to get better and better. We then also did a rather steep climb to the Victoria Peak gardens on top of the Peak, which was worth the slog. Arden had the right idea- still traveling 'sedan style' as the British did before the tram was built!
